See no meter movement but hear the track

Post by midilance »

I’m playing back tracks that I’m hearing but not seeing all of them on the mixing board. The track meters are not all showing anything although I can move the faders up and down and hear the tracks, that are not showing meters, change in volume. What could cause this?

That's weird... but I think you might have encountered a strange bug I've seen also. Sometimes there is sound but nothing on the meters. I may have closed and reopened the Mixing Board to bring them back. Or might have had to close and reopen the project. I don't recall offhand.

Like James, I have seen this but not since DP 10. I don't remember how I resolved it either. I may have just closed and reopened the project. I may have rebooted, also.

Good news! I'm pretty sure I've had this happen to me in DP 11 as well.

Same here. I reported it and Matt said it seemed to happen because of a preference glitch. Restarting makes it go away but it will come back. Doing the move/delete preference dance seems to fix it longer term.

Just confirming... this happened to me again last night in DP 11.22. I've joked about setting up a spycam aimed downward from the ceiling capture my hand movements and main screen... and now it's seeming less like a joke. It might be really helpful in recreating the issue. Without a "formula" to reproduce bugs like this, it seems unlikely MOTU will be able to track it down.

What I do know is that I was messing around with Window Sets and jumping back and forth between them with hotkeys and switching between sets with a Consolidated Window and sets without. When I have some time, I will try to see if I can figure out a way to get this to happen reliably.

Here, too. Rebooting is overkill. Either Revert the project, or quit DP and relaunch fixes it for me.

I'm pretty sure I've fixed it simply by closing and reopening the Mixing Board window.
