Does MIDI Time Piece AV USB work in Windows 11?

Post by Forrhouse »

Just wondering if anybody has their MIDI TimePiece AV USB working with Windows 11?
Mine has firmware chip v. 2.01 and rom chip v. 1.32.

I'm wanting to know what works and what doesn't as I would like to make the eventual switch from Mac to Windows 11 Pro.
Do all MIDI functions work?
Does the Word clock. Adat sync, smpte functions still work?
Hoe about clock works?

Thanks,
Eric

Can't speak to the sync functions (haven't used them in years), but MIDI I/O with Clockworks working here on Win 11. ROM is 2.0.1 - don't know what 2nd chip is but assuming last rev since working with Windows. Using most recent version of the drivers MOTU MIDI Installer Win 10/11 V89606 Oct 2021 which can be downloaded via the MIDI Express XT downloads page - not shown as an available download on the MTP AV page. Only issue is when MTP AV is on, Pro Tools sometimes hangs on quit. Try to snag a PC laptop somewhere and test sync stuff (and whatever else) before committing.

I think that chip had to do with MIDI and working on Intel CPUs. I'm also fairly certain that 1.32 was the last version of that chip, so that MTP/AV should be go to go.

My understanding is that it's a USB controller chip. 1.32 is required for Intel Macs and later PCs.

That's great news as I have 3 of them plus 1x of the older non USB ones which should work fine when networked together with one of the USB ones. At least the older non USB one works when networked to a USB one on my Mac which is running Big Sur.
So, theoretically it should if it is relying on the firmware chip v. 2.01 and rom chip v. 1.32. I do have another older XT USB somewhere, but don't know about the chips on that one, but it's really a non issue as i have an eprom burner to update the eproms if I need to.

Thanks

Mine works with our M1 MacBook Air and my iMac Pro both running Ventura. Frankly, I no longer have a use for it other than testing now and then, Hate to get rid of something that still works, right?

I agree. Great for testing. In my case I use them for a whole rack of synth modules. At least I did until I moved a few years ago. Will use them for the same when next studio is built. These continuing to work saves me from having to buy newer units which I won't be a able to afford for a long while. I might sell my 3x 896MK3 Hybrids though.
