Will my iMac run DP11?
Hi,
Will my highly spec'd 2012 iMac run DP11 well? The system requirements at MOTU say yes, but I'm a little skeptical.
Would appreciate your thoughts.
iMac (27-inch, Late 2012)
3.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
24 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675MX 1 GB
1TB SSD
running Catalina -don't think I can upgrade to whatever's the latest OS.

It ran quite well on my similarly spec'd 2011 High Sierra model. Perfectly adequate, but Apple Silicon has opened a whole new world.

You can upgrade the SSD to 8TB SATA III. If you decide to do so, make sure you also replace the NV RAM settings battery—a CR2032 is fine. When these batteries get too low, the symptoms resemble a bad GPU which causes a lot of money to be spent diagnosing problems that don't exist.1TB SSD

Catalina is the last MacOS you can run without a hack on a 2012. I wouldn't do it.
DP ii runs fine on these.

Re: Will my iMac run DP11?
BTW, there are two SATA III buses in a 2012 27" iMac. If one can find the special adapter that fits the socket for the SATA III blade (only year, only Mac), it is actually possible to have 16TB SSD storage onboard one of these.

Re: Will my iMac run DP11?
I had DP 11 running on an older iMac that yours and on an even earlier MBP, both running High Sierra with 16G RAM. I had no problems on either. On my newer Mac Mini running Mojave, I tried it with Catalina on a test volume, and didn’t notice it worked any better. Seems a bit “snappier” on a Monterey volume but so does everything else.dazzjazz wrote: ↑Sun Aug 13, 2023 3:05 pm Hi,

I think you can take MOTU at their word from the tech section of the DP 11 description
