Been holding off updating to Ventura .
Anybody having issues with external drives not showing up? Read a thread on Mac rumors blaming 13.4.1 was the issue specifically for Mac Studios.

I was having issues after I added a third External HDD; was getting semi-random failures to connect one of the HDDs, a TB-connected NVMe SSD, and, IIRC, and an unpowered Hub with USB-connected SATA SSD. I have every port except headphone jack and card slot on my Mac Studio Ultra occupied.

The issue was resolved by using a powered USB hub to connect the third HDD.

I should add, I am uncertain whether these issues arose prior to or after moving from Monterey 12.61 to Ventura 13.41.

Old news. Ventura 13.2 caused a lot of 3rd party peripherals not to show up including some thumb drives a few Pioneer CD/DVD burners — Asus and others were ok, however. In any event, MacOS 13.2.1 fixed everybody up.

For those where 13.2.1 didn't clear it up, every thread I've read about ongoing involves 3rd party crapware, most of it out of date. SATSMARTDriver is often the usual suspect. The MacOS does not need drive utilities. Although all are APIs for Disk Utility, this doesn't mean that a developer can't create .kext extensions that screw up future builds of the MacOS.
