Backing up authorizations
Hey guys I have a question. Occasionally my computer will unmount my USB stick that has my Waves authorization on it. It then as you knows says"disk was not ejected properly" . If I back up the USB stick by copying over the authorization to another USB stick and then naming the new stick with the name of the original USB stick would the copy work? It frightens me sometimes when that happens. Do not want to lose any authorizations. Just wondering if that would work as a backup. Thanks !

Re: Backing up authorizations
Seems rather unlikely doesn’t it? If you could do this, then we’d find USB sticks with authorizations for all Waves plugins for sale at the corner store.
You could probably follow the Waves installation process from scratch with a new USB stick in place, and remove the original authorizations, but that might not solve the problem.
I have my Waves licenses on a very old USB stick. It sometimes unmounts and I have to plug it back in, but never during a session. When it happens, there are usually a few additional external devices attached to my setup. The problem is more likely to be a problem with the USB ports and any hubs you have.

Good points Bayswater. Thanks for the insight. Just trying to protect my investment.

Understood. I wasn’t that pleased when they abandoned iLok, which we pretty much have to have anyway. ILok isn’t the greatest thing but I’ve never had an iLok key fail or disappear.
You can do a verification on the Waves USB key in DiskUtility.
Also, I noticed when I had a trial version of Ventura going, external drives were much more likely to spontaneously dismount.
