No MONO outs appearing in DP11 with virtual instruments?

Post by hellcat »

Hope someone here might be able to help me out (with kind thanks in any case).
I'm having an issue when I use virtual instruments (Spectrasonics, Spitfire Audio, UVI, etc) and when I click the OUT selection, only stereo outs appear (and buses), but no mono selections appear at all.
This means even though I've placed a MONO AUDIO track under it, I still can't route the instrument to record on a mono audio track, only stereo. Very frustrating. Any clues out there why this is happening? Never had this before.
Thanks!

I'm not sure if this is your problem, but you need to manually create an equivalent mono bundle. So if the VI output is set to bus 5-6, make a mono bundle with bus 5 or 6 and assign that to the DP return mono audio or aux channel. Depending on which one you choose, you'll get the L or R side. Adjust/compensate for relative volume.

Did I get your issue right?
Mac Mini Server i7 2.66 GHs/16 GB RAM / OSX 10.14 / DP 9.52
Tascam DM-24, MOTU Track 16, all Spectrasonics' stuff,
Vienna Instruments SUPER PACKAGE, Waves Mercury, slaved iMac and Mac Minis running VEP 7, etc.

With some VIs you can create a mono instrument. e.g. EW Opus, UVI Workstation (via VST2), NI Kontakt... Then, mono Aux outputs will be available too.
— Project > Add Track > Instrument Track > choose the 'Mono' version (if available).

You can’t always output a VI to a Mono channel. Spitfire BBC SO for example won’t do it. When you load the VI into the instrument track, the listing shows stereo and mono instances available. But you can always route a send in the VI to a Mono bus and use that as input to the audio channel you want to record on.
