Motu Ultralite Mk5..no audio

My brand new Ultralite Mk5 will not pass audio.
My 2020 M1 Macbook Pro sees it as connected device, DP sees it as a clock source, AudioMidiSetup sees it as connected, and Systrm Preferences audio has it selected as sound output. I'm running the latest version of DP in Monterey 12.6.2.

Press play in DP..no audio gets to the Mk5. Nothing on the meters. Oddly, Motu Audio Setup, which has "launch MOTU Audio Setup when device becomes available" does NOT launch when the Mk5 is connected. Which is confusing because the MBP sees it as a connected device.

Anyway, two days ago the Mk5 just wouldn't boot at all, so obviously Sweetwater shipped me a defective unit. I did contact them and they are sending me a replacement.

Meanwhile, I'm back to using my old Ultralite Mk3 Hybrid which has worked flawlessly for ten years, never had an issue with it. I do tracks playback from DP for a lot of tributes, so the audio interface is the most critical part of that job. I wanted the better sound from the Mk5 which is why i bought it.

What I'm wondering about is the issues others have reported about Ultralite Mk5's not working on M1/M2 Macs. As in, are there driver issues? Something "special" I should do before
connecting the Mk 5 ?

Can you try using CueMix 5 to route the audio? I believe that has replaced Motu's Audio Setup app for this device.

Thanks for the suggestion..not going to bother with CueMix, as I don't need it or use it...the Mk5 should just work when connected, like my decade-old Mk3 works.

The unit I got is dead as a doorknob now, so MOTU shipped it defective in the first place. I wonder if MOTU is having QC issues again.

I've never heard of any company not sometimes shipping a unit that had issues. It's not necessarily unique to MOTU.

James I agree, I've had a defective 828mk2 and a defective 1224, and I am not that stressed about it as I am getting a replacement this weekend. Now, if the replacement unit fails, well I guess I'll have some figuring out to do.

Update - I received my replacement Mk5 from Sweetwater this past weekend, installed it, tested - working just fine, so far.
