Cool BLANK Screen Saver!!!

Post by James Steele »

I had been looking for something like this and decided to do some Googling in earnest just now. And came across this:

https://intelliscapesolutions.com/scree ... lankscreen

It installs in the MacOS normal screensaver control panel and is working fine on my M1 Mac Studio.

Here's WHY I wanted this instead of putting monitors to sleep. Sometimes if I'm listening to a mix I like to have monitors go black so I can focus on the sound and I don't like closing my eyes... I know that's an option. If I sleep monitors, my Samsung 43" starts doing a spinning animation because it sees no HDMI input and soon thereafter a dialog about missing source. My secondary 32" monitor is also connected via HDMI and it pops up a dialog about a missing source too. On top of it, recovering and going back to normal takes time. I'm only interested in blanking the screens for a few minutes at a time, and quick return to normal is what I want.

Anyway... sharing this in case someone else wants monitors to go black, but still be receiving a signal... just without the little swirling designs or photos flipping by. :)

Thanks. I used to wonder why a screen "saver" would keep displaying something.

I understand that they don’t want a static image on the screen for hours. And in theory you could just set monitors to sleep but I’ve been wary of that having had monitors wake at a different resolution in the past. I kinda don’t trust it, hence I like using this.
