2 AVB Interfaces connecting to a 3rd ADAT interface.

Post by Composer87 »

I was hoping someone might be able to confirm this is possible. I have an 828es and am purchasing a 2nd motu interface (Hopefully an 8pre es). The 8pre es will live in my live room and the 828 in my control room. Instead of using the 828es as my main audio interface to the computer though, I'd like to use it as a converter and connect it to another interface using ADAT (RME RayDAT). Now I know that I can use the 828es as a standalone converter, but can I still have it connected to the 8 pre in the other room and access the inputs and outputs using AVB? Do the interfaces lose any functionality in standalone mode? Ultimately, I'd need to be able to send audio to and from both interfaces and monitor off of the 828es.

Any advice would be appreciated.
