Another little iZotope gripe... haha...

Post by James Steele »

Okay... just add to the silliness and cranky old guy nature of my other irritation with them... that Command + Q does not in fact QUIT iZotope Product Portal... you have to quit from the menu using a mouse...

The other little irritation is the "cute" thing they do with their plugs so that even iZotope starts with an "i"... they always end up at the bottom of the manufacturers list instead of alphabetical order! Hahaha... you see... I'm picking nits. Although bugs me a little that they do that...

I'm not gonna even mention the goofy graphic that confirms plugs are all up to date... "Aww yeah!!!" Horns up, dude! My plugs are up to date, bro!!!!

I've noticed these, too, and find it a little annoying. But, I do love my iZotope plug-ins.

I've put in a few complaints into iZotope Support about this. All I get is the "we're looking into this" response.

Complain early and often, I suppose. There's no excuse for this nonsense.

I'm wondering if those of us qualified for out "free" i.e. prepaid updates to Ozone 10 and RX next month will just see them in the Product Portal or not.

I just now updated to 1.46 Product Portal. Command q appears to work now.

Haha. Nice. I was really not that bothered by it, but I find it intrusive when these companies impose apps that remain in the background on us. Avid Link is one of those that is ever present in my menu bar, with no easy way to prevent it from loading.

Weird. I have 1.4.6 also and if you look at the menu for it:

Command + Q is assigne to "Close Product Portal Window" but it doesn't actually quit. If you use Command + Q you will still see the Product Portal icon up in your menu bar. For me, the only way I can actually *quit* Product Portal is to use the mouse and choose "Quit Product Portal" from the menu.

Yes but…

I believe the graphic is flawed. With PP active, it shows up in the Active window. After Command q, it gows away.

It may go away there... but their little iZotope icon is still up in my menu bar until I open Product Portal and choose Quit from the menu. I guess I just don't want the iZotope icon in my menu bar. I already have to put up with Avid LInk.
