Anyone use PreSonus Studio One 5?

Post by NealF »

Hi.
I'm still on DP 9.5. Been with MOTU since the 80s (I believe). But I don't want to spend the bucks to upgrade.
So I've been looking around at other DAWs for the first time.

I'm so use to DP that it's a tough decision. Some of what I'm seeing is that the newer DAWs are easier and faster. Don't know if they are as full featured, though.

Anyone use Studio One 5? Been seen some good reports. I've got the free version but that's not enough to make a decision.
Thanks.

You might be better of asking people on a studio one forum if any of them had switched from DP and what they have to say about it.

But your reason for switching is odd. Can’t afford an upgrade: Do you have to upgrade? If you do, does it cost you more than a full copy of studio one?

Studio One is a solid DAW. It doesn’t handle film scoring nearly as well as DP if that is your thing.

Best bet: Download the trial, or join Sphere for one month for $15. Try it out.

Strongly suggest you do that in tandem with a structured walkthrough. This one from Groove3 is really good.

If after a month it doesn’t appeal to you, cancel Sphere or delete the trial.

Good luck.

I would have to upgrade if I wanted to use newer Waves plugins, for one. Studio One, I believe is about $300 for the Pro version. They seem to update often.

Thanks. I don't do film scoring anymore. I'll check out Groove3.

At least update to 9.52. It was a feature release and bug fix.
