896 Original still work w PC Laptop?

Hello all - I have a student who wants to use my 896 Orginal & he bought the USB 2/USB3 adapters and it cant be seen?

Is it still functional with Windows 11?

Was there a USB version of the 1st Gen 896? I don't think so. I believe that those were FireWire.

USB adapters cannot work with FireWire. There are FW to Thunderbolt solutions out there but it isn't cut and dry like it is on the Mac. An old PC with a FW card should have a Texas Instruments chip in the card or it probably will not work.
