MOTU 1224-compatible card/standard?

Post by sebglhp »

I have a MOTU 1224 in my system that I have been trying to get working for a few months. I received it with a PCI-324 firewire card, which does not have support in 64bit/PCIe systems. I understand that the PCIe-424 works still on Windows 10, but they are very expensive for such an old card. Is there a 3rd-party firewire card that is compatible with the 1224 and 64bit/PCIe, or should I junk my interface? I reached out to MOTU support and surprisingly received a reply, however they did not have any information on this.

There are many old threads about this. To sum it up, the answer is No. You might find a used 424e card which will work in many old PCs with a PCIe slot or a Power Mac 5.1 (last made in 2012). There is no way to host the card in a 3rd party PCIe box. None. Zip. Nada…

Thank you for the reply. I had also been wondering if there was a PCIe card not made by MOTU that the 1224 could interface with that could be used instead, or if the communication that the interface uses is proprietary.
