828X display not working

My 828X display is completely dark. Is it common for these to die? Is there some sort of fix besides opening it up and replacing the screen?

It usually isn't the screen. Shine a light on it at an angle with it on. If there's data being displayed, it's the lamp behind the screen.

Google is your friend. There are many threads here and on Gearslutz about this. If technically savvy, it's an easy fix.

I don't know if Motu's exchange program covers this. For a flat fee, MOTU will let you exchange if for a refurb with a warranty. Units that are too old are no longer eligible. Best to call and find out if yours is or not and go from there.

Google motu 828 backlight repair and you’ll find a number of discussions and YouTube videos on this. Hopefully one or more will give you exactly what you need.

Seeing that the 828x is still listed on MOTU’s product page, the flat rate refurb exchange should be an option for you if you don’t want to deal with it yourself.

According to MOTU they no longer support any type of repairs or replacement for 828x units that are older than 2 years old.
