Reference for firewire install/troubleshooting in Windows 10

Found this by accident - a very good reference for getting the old firewire stuff going:

The one thing under contention here is using the VIA chipset rather that the TI. Since they were testing with video devices, that may be a better choice. However, for audio, just about everywhere else you read the TI chipset is recommended.

The real issue is that Intel doesn’t support FW and never did.
