Frequent Crashes (emergency stop)
Hey people. I've got one of those "Have no idea why this is happening" kind of problems. This was never a problem until 4 days ago. I haven't changed anything. And this happens about every 10 minutes which means I can't really get any work done.
So I get the error message "The audio hardware state's changed while MAS was running"
Immediately followed by this message "Emergency Stop The audio hardware state's changed while MAS was running"
I have to wait for things to reboot only for this to happen again about 5 or 10 minutes later.
I have a trashcan mac running Mojave and an Apollo Twin audio interface.
So too many plug ins?
Maybe a bad Thunderbolt 2 cable?
Just wondering if anyone might have encountered this problem. Any ideas would be appreciated thanks!!

Re: Frequent Crashes (emergency stop)
Need more info.
I can get that info msg any time by turning off my interface during a session. It's an error message only because I caused the error that made it occur.
How is your interface connected? If through a hub, bypass it and connect directly. None of my interfaces have ever played nicely with hubs. The worst was FireWire but USB will sometimes not be seen through a hub—never an issue when connected directly.

I get that message if I start up another audio application while running DP, or vice versa. Some applications appear to preset some audio settings and other applications then report that something has changed.

Re: Frequent Crashes (emergency stop)
I get that if I change settings on my metric halo sound card, switching to setting for zoom, for instance.
Is there some other app accessing your sound card and trying to switch the clock?
And do try to swap out cables and check your card's power supply.

Oh yea, that. It doesn't help that the frequent Zoom updates sometimes muck up other audio settings … and I'll leave it there.…switching to setting for zoom, for instance.

It is directly connected by a thunderbolt 2 cable.

I put my buffer at 2048 today and it's working much better.

Re: Frequent Crashes (emergency stop)
That's normally rock solid. I would burnish the ends, however. With the Mac and the unit shut down, unplug and re-plug each end of that cable 10 or more times. I'm not sure it will help but it cannot hurt.
I'm always amazed by how often burnishing cable connectors and switches can fix problems. I recently saved myself a $500 service ticket on a noisy Neuman by finding the internal DIP switches and flicking each a couple hundred times.
