Roland Cloud's new Zenology synth not working in DP??

Post by terrybritton »

Is it just me, or is it true that Roland Cloud's latest flagship synth, Zenology, is not working in DP? It is a VST3-only synth, and fails the test by DP.

I would expect that, given the massive resources that Roland has, that this would be an exemplary example of VST3 programming, so I was very surprised to see it fail the DP test.

Hi Terry:

I will go out on a limb that it isn't a Roland issue.

I am new to Roland Cloud, but have had several VST3 plugins fail validation in the past on DP 10.11 - both under Windows and macOS. Using Reason or MPC as a host, the plugins work fine.

I don't have a Windows machine handy, however, under macOS, the following VST3 fails (and the VST2 or AU version works):
  • Roland Cloud Plug-ins: AU version works
Reason Rack Plug-in EFX: it passes, but doesn't show-up correctly in DP - have to use the AU version for effects and the VST3 as an instrument.
Spitfire Audio plug-ins (LABs and others): VST2 version works
ROLI Studio Drums and Player: AU version works
Black Rooster Audio effects: AU version works
    Klangheim effects: VST2 version works
In many cases, I have filed a TechLink with MOTU and they reply they are aware of the issue.

Suggestion -- file a TechLink with MOTU so they are aware of the Windows issues.

Will be filing a TechLink for the macOS VST3 issue with Roland Cloud today.

Well, it might be a Roland issue. I am a regular user of Cantabile Performer for live shows, and its developer has stated a few times that Roland "does things their own way - again" or words to that effect. He had to do quite a bit of work with Roland to get most of their cloud offerings to work in his hosting software. He did it, but it was by including code other plugin makers did not need.

Still, I will follow your lead and submit a techlink report to MOTU.
