SmartScore 64 Released — finally!

Post by mikehalloran »

The long awaited upgrade to SmartScore X2 Pro and SmartScore Lite is finally out. There’s a video and a 30 day demo

Finale and PrintMusic owners have always been eligible for the Pro edition at half price. Now other editions are also being offered to Finale users at a discount.

Those of us who own older editions of SmartScore or certain competitive products have our own upgrade pricing.

Need to get used to certain UI changes but I’ll get there. I rarely used SS X2 Pro before but with the virtual choirs I’m conducting, I’m now scanning scores to create guide tracks which saves a lot of time.

I have some more prep to do before updating to Catalina but this is the upgrade that needed to happen before I go there.

It seems this is focused on scanning, not note entry and score creation. There's not a lot of info on features other than scanning. The lack of any movie aspects is a deal breaker for me.

Am I correct in that this is a $400 program to scan music? I'll transcribe into Finale, and i can still run F2014.5 and import a scan if need be (which it never is). lol

For Finale owners including you, it’s only $200 — same upgrade price as SmartScore Pro and SmartScore Pro X2 from Finale were before. If you upgrade now, you’ll have saved $300 over the last 12 yers. Big If, I know. Don’t need it? Save your money. There are some competitors in the $250 range but I was waiting for this since my upgrade is $99.

Over Mojave, good luck running SmartScore Lite from 2014.5 — or 2014.5 at all. High Sierra, yes. In any case, SS Pro added stand-alone and MusicXML functionality; SS X2P added lyrics and much improved expressions scanning.

I rarely scanned in the past. With these virtual choirs I do nowadays, I need to create guide tracks or my singers are lost. Scanning saves me a great deal of time. I have a HS boot drive for my MBP since SS X2 Pro sucks over Mojave, too.
