Live now> Finals of XVI Tchaikovsky Int. Piano Competition..

Post by FMiguelez »

If you want to see the next generation of super pianists, I highly recommend watching the finals.
These guys are a-ma-zing!
Kenneth Broberg, a North American pianist, made it to the finals (in case you're feeling patriotic).

So far, nobody has impressed me as much as Daniil Trifonov did back in 2011 when he won first price and Grand Prix, but these guys are truly gifted, and this is one of the toughest and most demanding piano competitions in the world.
Winners are almost guaranteed riches and international fame (just ask Van Cliburn, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Grigory Sokolov, Mikhail Pletnev, Daniil Trifonov, Yeol Eum Son, etc.)

Regrettably, this year there were few female piano competitors, and none made it to the finals :(
The guys were lucky that goddess/monster female competitors like Yulianna Avdeeva (2010 Chopin Competition 1st prize), Aimi Kobayashi or Kate Liu (2015 Chopin Competition 3rd prize), did not enter the competition this year. Results would've certainly been even more interesting...

This year the added more instrument categories like voice, violin, cello, woodwinds and brass, so the talent pool is totally diverse and impressive.

Just sit back and imagine you're in one of those gorgeous venues in Saint Petersburg. Enjoy!

Vienna Instruments SUPER PACKAGE, Waves Mercury, slaved iMac and Mac Minis running VEP 7, etc.

Nice! Thanks for the heads-up. No conference calls today. I can do my work with this turned up in my studio monitors.
