No Pre or Post Audio Crossfades in DP10

Post by dix »

I created a TechLink already, but in the event that it's a fixable problem with my setup, I'm wondering if anyone can create pre and post audio crossfades in DP10. ...the thing where you Option-drag on crossfades to re-center where the fade occurs.

Also, pre and post crossfades in projects created using earlier versions of DP disappear when opened in 10. Weirdly, fortunately even after you save them in 10 subsequent "Saving As... DP 7-9" creates a document that still has the pre and post fades in tact when opened again in DP9.

Bump.

Really, no one? Do people not use this feature, or are you just not experiencing the issue?

This flaw will definitely keep me in DP9 for audio editing-centric projects with extensive dialogue etc.

Well, incase anyone cares. MOTU's on the job! They responded to my TechLink and said they'd restore the normal and expected crossfade behavior in the next Update for DP10.

Yes, this info is buried in two other threads (or more?). This was noticed and being talked about within hours of the release. MOTU acknowledged the issue shortly after.

That was me and MOTU confirmed the bug. Makes DP 10 unusable for me as I use a lot of weird crossfades. Waiting for the update...

This is an unusual bug. When hammerman first reported it, I tried it out and was able to create and edit fades on new and old projects, symmetrical or not. The next day, I started getting spinning beach balls when trying to edit fades, then crashes. Now I can't create a cross fade at all. I draw them, and they disappear right away.

This seems to have something to do with the way DP is remembering fades in the fade dialog box, and some sort of disconnection between what is in the track and what the dialog sees.

Unusual indeed. While I can't see or hear the pre and post fades I try to create in 10, if I save as a 9-7 document, the fade I tried to create in 10 show up in 9!

Since I managed to miss that this bug had been acknowledge, I'm wondering what else has been verified. I know that MOTU has acknowledged:

- Pre/post fade bug
- Insert CC command crash bug
- Split Notes command crash bug
- Shift-drag not constraining MIDI between tracks bug
- Dragging MIDI track to track copies MIDI bug

What else? Has MOTU acknowledged any other bugs in DP10?

I'm in queue for an aftertouch bug, it's very similar to the fader bug in that aftertouch is recorded in DP10, it just doesn't play back. So taking the project to DP9 you get aftertouch playing back.. Good part about similar bugs anyway is they get fixed by fixing the same broken code.

It's probably about time for a "Bugs in initial DP10.0 Release" thread if James wouldn't mind.
I get that detractors will try to paint out DP as hopeless by proxy, but it would be nice to check and see if others are having your issue in one thread...

Seconded. From what I can tell the number of initial bugs is remarkably low for a major upgrade.

For those not following other threads, if reverting to 9.x, it’s best to reinstall it. This overwrites the shared libraries that were overwritten by the DP 10 installer.

Ok my plane is boarding. Off to Nashville for a few days.

Didn't this crossfade bug happen in DP9? Maybe it was 8? I remember the very same bug not so long ago. It was very unusual for MOTU to release a bug that blatant. You can't edit audio without proper crossfades!
