Break up a 5.1 WAV file into separate composite tracks

Post by terrybritton »

I have several WAV and .w64 files with varying numbers of tracks inside. A simple one would be a six-mono-track recording. DP9 sees this as a 5.1 file, but I need to bring it in as separate mono tracks.

Others have up to 30 mono tracks in them I need to import somehow. It would be even better if I could combine them into interlaced stereo tracks, truth be told.

I've done this using Audacity - first combining the mono tracks into stereo ones where appropriate and then doing a multi-export to create stereo stems - but wondered if I am missing something in DP9 that would make it easier on me.

In the soundbite window, if you open up the "mini menu" in the top right corner, one of the commands is "convert audio". That'll let you de-interleave the files to mono.

Alternatively, you could do some bussing in the bundles window that sends each stereo pair to its own buss, then bounce.
