MIDI EXPRESS XT

Post by KYE »

Hi guys, i recently picked up an old MIDI XT off ebay (old usb version with the mark of the unicorn logo) hoping i could hook it up and be away, however i dont seem to be getting any signal through the unit whatsoever. Ive downloaded and installed latest drivers from motu, the available ports show up in my DAW but thats about it. Ive also tried updating the firmware of the unit by pressing and holding the 'stripe' button upon start up but the express xt updater program wont detect the unit. Im pretty much at last resort now after researching and trying everything and can only assume this unit will not work with windows 10 or that the unit itself is faulty. Any help would be very much appreciated!!
Current setup :
- WINDOWS 10 PRO 64 Bit - DAW FL STUDIO - INTEL i7-4770K @3.50GHz - 16GB RAM
- MSI GTX 780 TwinFrozr Gaming Graphics card - MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming Motherboard - XSPC Photon 170 D5 Reservoir / Pump
Motu 828 mk3 - Access Virus C - Moog Slim Phatty
- Thermionic Culture vulture - TL Audio 5051 Valve Processor
Samson Power Strip PS10 - M-Audio Oxygen 25 Keyboard

Open it up, change the CR2032 battery, look for obvious problems such as bulging caps and discoloration or cracks on the motherboard etc.
