Got it. Cool. Only thing I wish is that the overload indictors reset with Command + \ in DP like other plugs. :(

Native Instruments PHASIS

Post by mhschmieder »

Beat me to it. I just registered the serial number but, even after a reboot, it doesn't show up as either downloaded or not downloaded, so I'll probably go now for a direct link if I can find it.

This is a welcome addition as the recent Softube Fix Phaser is the only pro-level phaser in years, with Phase Mistress being great but pretty much the only pro-level option (though MOTU's is pretty good and I still use it sometimes).

Other phasers are mostly either not pro-level, super long in the tooth, or never made it to 64 bits.

I wonder if this one will be followed by a paid pro version a year later, like the excellent REPLIKA delay effect, which has been my favourite delay ever since.

UPDATE: Phasis showed up for download after my second reboot. Looking forward to using it next week after Christmas, but work and gigs have me slammed non-stop since Thanksgiving.

Yet another steel tongue drum lib, but this one is free

Post by mhschmieder »

https://www.kvraudio.com/news/ample-sou ... sale-39698

Perhaps even more intriguing, is that this is the first in a new series of percussion libraries.

Pretty smart of them to release the first product for free, as this will give them maximum exposure to potential system-specific problems before they release the first non-free product in the series.

I already own the other two steel tongue drum dedicated libraries, but will download this anyway, if only to see what their new percussion engine is like.

As far as I know, the only other ones are 8DIO's Propanium, and Precisionsound's Steel Tongue Drum.

There are of course several others, if one expands the classification to include hang drums and other pan drum sub-categories.

In case you miss it, the actual download link itself is in a banner with Santa and a sled, at the top of the main downloads page:

http://www.amplesound.net/en/download.asp?page=2

It took me a while to find it, as I trained myself from youth to tune out ads, and anything that is animated strikes me as noise and unwanted "entertainment". :-)

Their website has been having hosting problems, but if you get through, this one is worth the download, IMO. I like what I hear enough to want to check out their other products.

I had taken advantage of that offer earlier, and I use EQuivocate all over the place now! The presets that come with it are highly useful even used as-is.

This morning I was reading reviews on some Omnisphere patches I am considering and came across a new (to me) review site with an entire page dedicated to free samples and loops. It’s a huge list, so even if half of them suck, the other half would keep you busy for months:

https://www.samplesoundreview.com/p/freebies.html?m=1

(Apologies if this site was previously posted in this thread. I didn’t have time to go through all the old posts and the character limit on searching inhibited me from doing a more thorough search.)

PSP PianoVerb
“PianoVerb is a reverb which simulates using a piano as a reverb. This is an old technique which involves miking up the strings of a piano and putting a something heavy on the damper pedal. This allows the strings to resonate freely in response to any sound which is loud enough to excite any string of the appropriate pitch. This plug-in is a frustration-free alternative - and of course you don't need an acoustic piano.”
