Re: New Finale
The entire video paradigm is useless to me. F2014.5 is my last update. I'm done.

Re: New Finale
I think that’s right. 25.5 has Rewire enhancements, bug fixes for MusicXML 3.1 and High Sierra.mhschmieder wrote:...so I think 11 November was the release date.
No new features nor restoration of the Movie Window. Notion 6 and Overture 5 are trying to fill that gap and take advantage of MM’s shortsightedness in that area.
2014.5 appears to work the same in OS 10.13 as it did in Sierra. You can’t customize nor resize the tool palettes and the Expression tool may crash the app. Although they work if the OS is updated, it is likely that 2014.5, like 25.4, will not install properly over High Sierra.

Mike, do you know if 2014.5 will still export MusicXML under HS? That's all I use it for now, loading old work and exporting it.

Yes. I tested that to satisfy my curiosity.leigh wrote:Mike, do you know if 2014.5 will still export MusicXML under HS? That's all I use it for now, loading old work and exporting it.

If you get the free Dolet 7 plugin, it will upgrade Finale 2009–2014.5 to MusicXML 3.1. Dolet is 32 bit only and not needed in Finale 25. Xml 3.1 was introduced with 25.4 last June.

Re: New Finale
It's a constant love-hate situation with Finale and it has been that way since the beginning. I use it because I haven't found a good alternative. When a new pretty face comes along, I may opt for a divorce.

That means you will have to eventually move to Sibelius, which I understand you hate.MIDI Life Crisis wrote:The entire video paradigm is useless to me. F2014.5 is my last update. I'm done.
I seriously doubt Dorito or Notion would be useful to you and your gigs... Is there anything else even worth considering?
Maybe MOTU will finally dare reentering the music notation scene with a new product that will blow us all away?

Re: New Finale
I won't get my hopes up, and it would require monumental commitment of development resources, but it would be great to see DP's built in notation add enough features to make it compete in that realm.FMiguelez wrote:MIDI Life Crisis wrote: Maybe MOTU will finally dare reentering the music notation scene with a new product that will blow us all away?

All DAW users want better notation.
