Re: MIDI Quest for iPad
At the moment, it appears to be kind of a hot mess.
On my iPad 4, it runs like $#!++`/ alpha-version-ware.
It won't run on less than 2 GB of available RAM. The "store" where you buy each profile individually (rumored to cost $69 each) is greyed out, so I can't confirm those prices. I haven't been able to do a single thing with it, because of the memory error. They quickly released an update that appears to have solved nothing.
Calibrate your expections downward as far down as they can go. It won't murder you, but it will hurt you a little.

Too bad if this fails. It's a one person effort working out of a house. And there aren't a lot of alternatives, as Unisyn and SoundDiver users know.

Re: MIDI Quest for iPad
That's good to know. I do hope the developer is able to make a solid app. It would be very useful. And I'd happily support that work-- by buying profiles for my K2500R, K2661, Lexicon MPX-1, Behringer Ultra-Curve Pro 2496, ... um, I think that's pretty much it. I don't know if he has profiles for all those, but especially the kurzweils would be handy.

Re: MIDI Quest for iPad
Looks like the K2500R is there, but not the K2661. No Lexicon MPX-1, either. It's understandable. With all the different MIDI devices out there, you can't cover ALL of them!
With both the Kurzweils & Lexicon, it would be nice to have a larger screen editor. I don't really need patch management for either.
When it comes to realtime control, MIDI Designer is taking the cake.

Re: MIDI Quest for iPad
Generally, the more recent devices aren't there. It's difficult enough to map the K2000 on a few screens. The 2661 must have dozens.stubbsonic wrote:Looks like the K2500R is there, but not the K2661. Re: MIDI Quest for iPad
I am saddened to hear that the developer Michael Lambie (a nice guy and always willing to help) has run into issues with this latest release. I'm certain this project has been taking up much of his time, and consequently has caused a large postponement of the release of any updates to MidiQuest 11.03 (which I have owned for several years and love!)
The sooner these issues are ironed out, the sooner he can return to updating the 11.03 Desktop version, so I certainly hope they are fixed quickly!
Meanwhile, I cannot recommend the desktop version highly enough. Very powerful software.

Re: MIDI Quest for iPad
The K2000, K2500, and K26xx series all mostly have a similar layout. The K26xx adds some additional DSP routing/algorithms, and with the K2500 & K26xx if you add KDFX, KB3 (tone-wheel organ sim) and vocoder mode, you add quite a few more settings windows.bayswater wrote:Generally, the more recent devices aren't there. A dear friend, M.W., had developed a cross-platform java app called VAST Programmer which was impressive. He was making use of a built-in screen grab feature, and was able to recreate an impressive interface on the computer display. Sadly, M.W. no longer has an online presence and we don't really know how he's doing.

Re: MIDI Quest for iPad
I've been Googling around on MidiQuesti, and it looks like absolutely no one has been able to get it to work. I would at least like to get it up to speed in a demo mode to see if the seemingly high profile prices are remotely justifiable.

Where did you see a price? I downloaded the app and profiles appeared, but I never saw a price or any mention of in app purchases.cuttime wrote:I've been Googling around on MidiQuesti, and it looks like absolutely no one has been able to get it to work. From the same link you posted earlier, just click on the supported device link to see the price.bayswater wrote: Where did you see a price? I downloaded the app and profiles appeared, but I never saw a price or any mention of in app purchases.

OK thanks. Seeing them now. For what I'd want, the prices vary. The K2000 is $119 I guess this is for those who are really attached to these devices. How many of us still use the Proteus 2 enough to warrant $69?
