Sound flower? What the... Finale?

Post by MIDI Life Crisis »

I installed Finale 25 last week and promptly uninstalled it. That is the only change to my system. Now out of nowhere, Soundflower has appeared and even bypassed my usual MOTU driver for Track 16. I tried to download the Soundflower app to run the uninstall and even ran a script provided with the DMG from the developer, but the script failed to remove the extension.

I'll start digging thru my library for Sunflower extensions, unless someone has a better solution, but what a PITA!

If you have an old install, you have to disable SIP to remove everything—then reenable it, of course. The latest Soundflower build does not install where it shouldn't.

I posted the basics on how to do this awhile back. I'll see if I can find that link.

security integrity protection

Just go to security in system pref's and turn it off, to install/uninstall non Apple apps.

Thanks. The Library has lots of folders and oddly named entries that may also need to be removed. I wish it were as easy as that link makes it sound...

A guy in the MM forum provided the answer: KILL THIS

I also found a few .kext files for hardware related stuff I don't use. Gone! :smash:

I was hoping this was the answer to my own Finale launch problems, but the Sound Flower extension doesn't show up on my system, and if I audit that entire directory, no suspicious extensions show up.

I'll re-run the font manager now just in case I hadn't done that lately.

EDIT: Font Book found no duplicate fonts. I guess my Finale problem is unique to my system.
