What did you do to get BIAS Peak Pro to work in the first place. It suddenly stopped working for me (it crashes on launch every time) a few months ago -- not too long after my El Capitan upgrade.

It's one thing that scares me from upgrading to Sierra in case that's a bridge too far for getting back the operational capacity of that app. I desperately searched for lost license files using Time Machine, in case that's the cause of the crash when Peak launches.

Peak pro works for me in El Cap other than my mouse cursor disappearing in the waveform window until I select.

Bias Peak Pro 7 works better in Sierra than it did in El Capitan - no strangeness on saving. It's as if Sierra reacts better than the previous 2 OSX versions to the Peak code. I have been posting with each OSX update for many years now since Bias Peak's "demise". Must be something in the original code that just works.

You could also try re-downloading Peak from this site:

http://www.bias-inc.com/downloads/updates/

To be honest I can edit audio in DP as a soundbite (I don't even use the Waveform editor) and do everything I want but I just find Peak Pro easier for editing. So I am just pleased it still works - I have DSP Quattro but have never had to learn it as Peak keeps going.

Thanks! I am on the verge of upgrading to Sierra, but am too "mid-project" at the moment to risk it, and have promised to record a local metal band next weekend so had at least better wait until after those sessions (this time around, they are taking the tracks to someone else to mix, who doesn't have a day job, just for expediency, so I'm probably safe to upgrade after basic tracking is done).

I'll try the link you gave, re-download and reinstall. It may have gotten corrupted by something in an Apple update or some demo download (demo software is notorious for having ill side effects on other installations); it may have nothing to do with my auth code not being found.

EDIT: I was only at 7.0.1 vs. 7.0.3 anyway, so it's a good thing you provided that link! And like you, I can't get on with either iZotope RX Advanced or DSP-Quattro as my audio editor; nowhere near the flexibility and feature set of BIAS Peak Pro! It has seriously affected my recent mock-ups and could cripple me once I get past mock-up stage.

Do you remember when BIAS Peak 7 came out? I am having a devil of a time finding the email for the upgrade, and so far have only found my Peak 5 S/N, which is rejected by their server (or maybe my email address is rejected). Also, I can't remember whether I am XT or regular, and don't know how to tell from the files on my system.

Maybe there's a preference file to look at, that stores the S/N? That would be faster than trying to sift through a thousand or more emails. See, I was on the beta test team for Peak 6 and Peak 7, so there are very few search terms I can use to narrow my S/N search in my email archives.

UPDATE: I found an email from 15 FEB 2011 with a serial number for Peak 7 Beta, but it is rejected for either Peak 7 or Peak 7 XT at their updates site. Maybe it got replaced by another S/N after the product went from beta to public release?

UPDATE: I found the binary file with the license, and used HexEdit to open it so I could locate the S/N key and cut/paste it into the web form, which worked for Peak 7 XT. Now I can download/install!

The file is located in Application Support, under BIAS/License as "BIAS Peak 7.baf".

UPDATE: It still crashes. I saved the crash log, and it doesn't appear to be authorization-oriented. Seems to be some sort of seg fault inside the audio drivers, so maybe I need to update my RME drivers, or maybe an update I did to those this past summer broke Peak?

This may not be fixable until upgrading to Sierra, is my guess, as the OS upgrade will probably then take care of lots of incompatibilities and missing files that may have crept up at the Core Audio level over time. I find that Apple's updaters do a really good job these days of cleaning the system.

Good luck with that - I am definitely on 7.03 - I vaguely remember having to use the serial number at some point after an OSX update but can't remember which one I am afraid. I would recommend re-installing Peak - it was definitely a download originally - no disks involved for that update.

Yep, did that already, but the problem is that the license authorization was changed after Peak 5, and is embedded in the app with no alternate way to authorize. So if the app won't launch, you can't re-authorize. I'm thinking that means my license isn't the cause of the crash. I thought maybe it was after I swapped my internal SSD, but that was much earlier anyway.

UPDATE: There is a standalone authorization tool after all; it had gotten erased at some point, but reinstalled with peak Pro XT 7.0.3 today, so I ran it and re-authorized, then rebooted. No change.

Well, I think all of the other software on my computer has straightforward and recoverable state (and authorization) once I do the Sierra upgrade. Does 32 Lives have to be run again on 32-bit plug-ins at that point, or are the wrappers generated in El Capitan still OK in Sierra?

It's funny... this update as of this evening STILL does not show up in the normal Software Updates app in MacOS. I'm going ahead and downloading the combo updater. Weird.

It showed up for the other Macs around here only after I opened the App Store and clicked on Check for Updates. Strange.

I keep a copy of the combo updater on a usb drive to save time after I update mine—saves time.
