Hi - testing out an 2013 iMac for DP. Trying to figure out the best HD configuration.
I have a 1TB Fusion Drive (internal on the iMac), a 1TB SSD (in an external USB 3.0 enclosure), and a 1TB 7200rpm HD (in an external USB 3.0 enclosure). Which config will give the best performance?
1) Fusion Boot / SSD Recording
2) SSD Boot / Fusion Recording
3) SSD for both
4) SSD Boot / 7200rpm Drive Recording
thanks!
Which drive to use for boot/recording?

I'd go with the prize behind Curtain #1, and use the spinner for Time Machine backups. You might also want to keep a daily backup of your DP projects on the Fusion Drive.chlorinedream wrote:Hi - testing out an 2013 iMac for DP. Trying to figure out the best HD configuration.

Thanks I'll try that first. Was thinking that would be the way to go.I'd go with the prize behind Curtain #1, and use the spinner for Time Machine backups. You might also want to keep a daily backup of your DP projects on the Fusion Drive.

#3 for me. Offload your projects to #1 when done.
Save the spinner for Time Machine.
