Sort Plugins
When you right click to insert a plug in, in the mixer window, is there a way to sort the plugins like in the Effect Chooser?
Right now they come up grouped by manufacturer. It would be more intelligent to sort them by category, ie: Eqs, reverbs, compressors ...

Re: Sort Plugins
That's what User Categories are for. Set them up, have them show up when you choose a plugin and close the other folder that appear in the chooser.

Re: Sort Plugins
Seems this isn't possible. The best workaround, and what I prefer anyway, is explained about midway through this MOTU video ...

In the Effect Chooser window, after you've setup your User Categories, right click on User Categories and select Save as Menu Category in the drop down.
Right click on an insert on the Mixer Window and you'll see your User Categories.
Still can't rearrange the order, but much faster selecting the plugin I'm looking for.

Re: Sort Plugins
I hope it didn't really take 19 months to try this out.
It works fine here. When I did it, the plugins remained in the order they were added. Difficult to rearrange, but not difficult to set up.
It also helps to keep the user categories down to a small number of entries by making subcategories. If you have a zillion plugins in one folder it pretty much defeats the purpose of categories by making it difficult to find plugins. So, e.g., instead of an EQ category, have one for each type of EQ.

Re: Sort Plugins
LOL, no, gave up on sorting 19 months ago, just stumbled on this today
Now that I've found this I don't care about sorting them, it was more about organization and this is perfect. Better actually, when I'm looking for an eq, comp, rev, etc, I can right click and they're all grouped however suits me.
Just posted this in case anyone new had the same frustration.

Great video! Thanks for pointing that out - I'd forgotten about that one.

Re: Sort Plugins
Does anybody know where this folder is on the Mac?
I've had to redo these user preferences a number of times over the years and I'd love to just be able to copy them over.

Re: Sort Plugins
They're where you'd expect: User>Library>Preferences. Inside there are several folders and files with com.motu in the names each containing preferences for some DP elements.
