Recovering from Trash

Post by bayswater »

Was this always available? I remember in OS 9, you could go to items in the trash and run a command that put them back where they were before they were deleted. I also remember that disappeared in OS X. You could drag things out of trash, but OS X didn't remember where they were originally.

Now I see that I can open the trash folder and Command-Delete a file there, and it will go back to where it was originally before being deleted.

Just saw this.

You can also right-click on an item in Trash and Put Back will be in the drop-down menu.

I've no idea how long that's been there besides many years.

I never checked after it disappeared. Could have been there a long time. A source of other undocumented features like this would pretty useful.
