Had the same thing happen. Reloaded it and it finally showed. If I remember, when I first opened up DP after the 1st install , it did not go thru the AU check.

Thanks. I guess the problem is not specific to this plugin. I've posted a ticket at Waves.

Re: Kramer Master Tape
Have you tried 32 Lives? That seems to work with FG-X pretty well and seems pretty robust these days.Shooshie wrote:..,but after moving to Mavericks I've had trouble with the JBridge/FG-X combination.

What do you mean by "reloaded it"? Can you elaborate on what you did to get it to work?
Thanks!

I haven't, and I may, but when I need for FG-X to work, I can get it to work. It just takes a few tries. It finally loads and all is well. It's J-Bridge that's crashing periodically. Also, once I get it working, it usually loads in that project. It's just the uncertainty that bugs me enough to go back to RenVox and RenComp, and the L3. I'm not too worried about it.
If they get a new version out by sometime this summer, I will be fine. If they haven't shown any progress by then, I may get 32 Lives.

Re: Kramer Master Tape
I reinstalled it as a single plugin from the offline Waves installer for Mavericks.

Thanks. I had tried that as well, but I am not on Mavericks, so I'll need to wait to hear back from Waves.apanacci wrote:I reinstalled it as a single plugin from the offline Waves installer for Mavericks.

Bayswater, I just fixed mine. I trashed the Audio Unit Info Cache for DP, relaunched DP, and the Waves plugins are fixed in DP, DSP-Q, and Logic 9.bayswater wrote:I'll give that a try too.apanacci wrote:I reinstalled it as a single plugin from the offline Waves installer for Mavericks.

What I don't quite understand is why DP prefs would affect DSP-Quattro and Logic 9 (and both in totally different ways). But hey, it's fixed, so hope it works for you too.bayswater wrote:Thanks for the tip.

Re: Kramer Master Tape
I have Kramer MPX (not sure what's been changed in Waves v9.x/Kramer Master Tape; it could be better or it could be the same as MPX) and, even on the default setting, which is supposed to be an Ampex set up for "optimal performance", I was appalled at how much it negatively affected the sound. It wasn't even something I realized when mastering with the plug. I went from the aforementioned "Soft Compressor" setting to default and kept the input drive to a minimum, where it's just hitting 0 dB on the meters. I thought that doing this would keep the effect subtle, and couldn't really tell how dramatic of a difference it was making until I A-B rolled mixdowns done with and without MPX. It seemed like it added too much lower mid-range, and, even without pushing it, it compressed the material a great deal more than I wanted it to (MPX appeared in my mastering chain between the actual compressor and the iZotope Ozone 5 Loudness Maximizer on the end). After giving up on MPX, I tried a few other programs, like Toneboosters Reelbus, which also pushed things too far. I finally stumbled over u-he Satin, which I believe is extremely similar to Slate's VTM, but a lot less expensive. It actually behaves more like a real tape machine -- or several, since it emulates a few Ampex and Studer decks -- and gives you different tape forumlas and tape machine EQ curves, like NAB and CCR, plus head adjustment, machine noise, Dolby noise reduction, etc. There's also supposedly a way to feed a bunch of different tracks into one master instance of Satin by setting up the plug on a bunch of tracks and having them output to one master instance on an auxiliary track, which I would assume is the best way to emulate a multitrack Studer, but I haven't been able to get that to work on my machine. I mainly use it on the mastering chain, and the effect, a lot like Slate VTM, is subtle without majorly altering the sound.

Re: Kramer Master Tape
Armageddon, you may have had too much of a good thing on your chain. The Kramer replaces a bus comp for me. I love Ozone at times and on other occasions I can hear processing schmutz that bothers me and I go in another direction. Gain staging can also make a big difference when using all these plugs.

Re: Kramer Master Tape
Yes, that worked. I didn't reinstall, just deleted the MOTU AU 64 bit cache. Very strange, it fixed DSP-Q and Logic too. Logic didn't scan the Kramer plugin before, but did after I had verified that the Kramer was working in DP and DSP-Q. DSP-Q didn't scan it at all -- just made it available.billf wrote:What I don't quite understand is why DP prefs would affect DSP-Quattro and Logic 9 (and both in totally different ways).
