RESOLVED: MachFive 3.14 install problem

Post by joelfriedman »

[Started thread here, in correct forum]

Hi,

I'm hitting the road soon to go to a colony and work on my theater piece and will using my laptop for the next month as I can't being my desktop. so I'm installing DP8 and M5 etc. on it.

I installed MachFive on my desktop a while back with no problems. I was installing it swimmingly on the FW drive connected to my laptop when I got to DVD4 Mark79.ufs and suddenly it would almost finish and stop and give me an error -36.

"The finder can't complete the operation because some data in "Mark79.ufs" can't be read or written. (Error code -36)"

I tried the disk a few times, tried the next DVD5 Telmatic and the same thing: gets to the very end and then fails. I used the very same disks to install on my other machines months ago and they've been in their packaging since. Anyone know what this means or how to get around it? Are the disks suddenly damaged?

I've opened a tech note with Motu.

Wait: I just realized that after installing the M5 app I updated it and then started the content disks. Could that be the issue - the UFS aren't as up-to-date as the app now? On the other hand, it took the 1st 3 DVDs without a problem!

Puzzled...

Further thought: can I just copy the ufs files from my desktop samples drive directly onto my FW external that I'll be using with my laptop? Then it would just be a question of pointing the app to the samples, no?

Best,

Hats off to Motu. I was expecting the "old days" when we rarely heard back from tech support so I posted here. I heard back on my techlink already and they will replace the disks and I can indeed simply copy the UFS files from 1 drive to another.

Great products, great company.

Best,

Joel
