I'm guessing it has to be at least a few hundred more than a laptop and a few thousand more than a mini with the iMac somewhere in between. That's been the model for a long time. Otherwise the fancy, schmancy stuff wouldn't be desirable for geeks like us. I'm guessing $3k-ish for the low end and $15k+ for the pimped out model with lousy apple ram.

On the contrary to the former- I was a champion of the cylindrical sound in the 60's.. but when that gave way to the cuboid sound of the 70's, I switched to guitar.

Nowadays of course, triangular based pyramid is all the rage..

But I digress..

My guess is that a fully loaded 12 core one of these, and I mean fully loaded, is gonna set you back around $10,000, especially if you get some tasty 4k monitors with it.. but my goodness, you can make a whole feature length film with one of these, and it fits in your backpack.. and, it's just so darn cute!

Here's something to consider. ARS Technica has this to say about the dual GPU's in the new Mac Pro:
While there are no details on the base options, the maxed-out option is based on a dual FirePro W9000 with 6GB of VRAM apiece.
Current pricing for these cards, if you buy one retail from Amazon is $3,336.62 each or $3,639.98 from NewEgg. So your $15k estimate might be accurate, possibly even low.

Sure sounds to me like they have a PC agenda to fulfill.

wonder of they'll have standard digital outs for current monitors or if I'll need adaptors?
It depends on 'current monitor' but the answer is yes - depending. TB and current HDMI monitors should plug right into the TB ports while there are ports for the new HDMI spec. Adapters for HDMI to DVI and VGA or even TB to DVI and VGA are readily available now. I can't imagine a VGA monitor in the new Mac Pro... but it could be done.
