Kontakt Memory Server with DP8 ?

Post by Chris T »

I'm running DP8.04 (in 64bit). I often run multiple instances of Kontakt 5 within DP.

Is there any good reason to be running the Kontakt memory server (on the same Mac) since DP can now utilize all the memory?

Same question applies when running Kontakt in VE Pro (slaved to DP). Any point running the memory server?...

Thanks!

I don't know about VEPro, but I've been told, here and elsewhere, that Kontakt runs better inside DP in 64-bit operation with the Memory Server turned off.

Not using VEP as all my plugs/VIs are now 64 bit, but that's how I run Kontakt 5 with no problems so far.

Kontakt's memory server was designed to address all of your system's RAM (>4GB) for 32bit DAWs that could not. Similar in design to Spectrasonic's Omnisphere.

NI recommends you turn this feature off when running Kontakt in a 64bit DAW.

Ok thanks - KMS is now OFF!. How about the Multiprocessor support? I have an old 8-core machine (late 2007). Obviously if it's within DP I should keep that on right? (7 cores recommended?). But what about within VEPro 5 (slaved to DP). Should I turn it off when in VE Pro 5?...
