Static Audio Files

Post by trackology »

I record from my Allen & Heath iLive (iDR10) console using a dante card 48k 24bit. At a specific point in my last recording all of my audio tracks went "staticky!" The waveforms all look normal, there's no visible change in the waveforms - they seem normal and audio "looks" normal. I'm assuming something went wrong with the clock (which my iLive console is the master.)

Any ideas how to fix this?

Static like white noise ?
I was able to fix files ( with the help of mr. buchhalter from MetricHalo )
At the exact start of the static, delete the first bit ( 2 numbers ) with a hexeditor...
Hope to be of help

Yes, static as in white noise! Not familiar with hex editors but will find one right away and try this. I'm assuming I have to do this for all of the wav files in the multitrack session, right? What do I use to gauge the exact start of the static? It isn't showing in any of the waveforms. Should I use samples or real time?

Thanks for the help!

I zoomed in at the exact start of the static / noise
Before it, the audio should be visible in the track in DP

Zoom in to the sample level and split where the signal curve hits 'zero' the last time before the static starts.
Merge the 'static' file and remove the first 2 numbers in the hex editor...
then replace the static file with the hex edited one
You may have a gap and have to repair the music, but hopefully the rest plays fine.
That worked for me - it's some time ago I had to do this
PS
BJ from MHLabs pointed me in that direction, he deserves the credit !

Best

Am I deleting just the first pair of numbers on the first line of the hex file or am I deleting the first 2 row or numbers? Deleting the first pair of numbers on the first row doesn't work.

I think it depends...
I was successfull by deleting the first 2digit numbers, i.e. a 24 from 24 38 13....
Or you can try to add 00 in front additionally, or delete more 2digit numbers, or add more...00

Maybe suddenly it works,
did you save the edited file and reimport/replace into DP
You can send me a snip from where it happens, some sec. before and after
I have time now, but not later...
