Reference movie issue in DP8

Post by ghobish »

Working on a quick audio post of a fairly simple short movie from FCP. I output an OMF file from FCP (opens up in DP8 just fine) and created a reference movie from FCP that references the FCP media (i.e., movie is not self contained) in order to save time and space.

When I import the movie into the project, the movie window is blank (black). Hoever, the still frames from the movie DO show up in the Movie track in the Sequence Editor.

Do I need to make a flattened reference movie, or am I missing a simple trick?

Movies are messed up in DP8. I just make self-contained movies for my projects. You also cannot export a referenced movie out of DP yet, nor can you open a .dv file for use in DP.

And that update with all these fixes is due out when...?

Thanks. Yeah, a flat file works fine.

Weird,

I've used the same movie file on three different systems, all running DP8, exact same movie file plays fine on two machines, but the third has the problem you guys describe (just a black movie window).

Any ideas?

Well, flat files were working fine- I'm working on a series of interview vids. 8 of them in the project. ONE of them works great; the rest work for a few seconds and then stutter badly or freeze.

ALL the reference vids are the same spec- DVNTSC, 29.97, around 30 mbits. Why would one work and not the others?

(Just updated to 8.03, no change.)
