Progress bars in batch export. Cool!
Yesterday I had to convert about two down files from 48k to 44.1k to send to a theater to load into their automated audio system (I always work in 48/24 since I mainly do work for broadcast and film). Anyway, I loaded the finished audio files into a new project (for convenience) and elected all of them to export to 44k. I was delighted to see there is now a progress bar for each and every file being exported. no more wondering while the color wheel spins the wheel of misfortune. You can see what files are done, and what files are working and how long it might take to finish.
Nice!

I'm assuming that was an auto-correct benefit, and that the intent was "two DOZEN files."MIDI Life Crisis wrote:Yesterday I had to convert about two down files from 48k to 44.1k ...
Well, that beats the one that always gets me. OSX invariably wants to correct my name to "whoosh." Maybe I'll just change my name. It would be a lot easier.

You get the same cool bars on a batch import, as well... So nice to know what it's doing and how quickly when you drag in a bunch of SFX, for example.

Didn't notice the bars on the import but it was basically instantaneous on my 8 core (about 17 48k files into a 44k project). For my money, I do think that this machine is going to be quite sufficient for some time to come. 64 bit it really a new way of working for me. So fast.
Menu Meters, btw, is a great way to keep track of what those cores are doing...

Re: Progress bars in batch export. Cool!
Agreed... I have that same 8-core and never daydream about a new computer. (I saw the progress bars because I was re-doing my VO demo today and was mass dragging everything from MP3s to 48k WAVs into the sequence 10 or so at a time, and watching as DP converted them all to 44.1K AIFs.... also, I hadn't turned doff Beat detection, etc., so it was figuring a bunch of unnecessary stuff.)

Just curious, Jim, are you on a 2 x 3.2 Ghz and which graphics card? I have a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB but as I bought the machine used I don't know what it came with originally.

Re: Progress bars in batch export. Cool!
Mine's a hair slower on the CPUs, MLC... 2 x 2.8ghz Quad Core Intel Xeon, but with an equally speedy Radeon HD 4870 w/512mb of VRAM (which is a recent update... these things came with a doggy little ATI Radeon with 256mb). I've been running this Mac for five years (bought it as a refurb in early 2009) and it shows no signs of needing replacement. In fact, as you noted, 64-bit DP 8 has given it a new lease. Yeah, snuck in under the wire on the whole 64-bit kernel / OSX 10.8 thing, but good enough is good enough.
