You can download a fully-operational, time-restricted demo from MOTU's website. Test-drive it and see for yourself.

To maybe consider: I think the beauty of MX4 is the user's ability to custom-build sounds rather than the depth or extensiveness of its preset list.

Yes Chris, you are right about the user's ability but I'm not very creative when it comes to creating sounds and therefore a good sound bank is always helpful to people like me.

FWIW: I think MX4's presets are pretty good. You might find many of them 100% useful out of the gate. I just meant to say that MX4 is the kind of app that almost begs you to get under its hood. It's tweak-friendly, ya dig?

I think the supplied presets are for the most part quite good, but yeah it's an extremely tweakable synth. And there's a really comprehensive randomize function as well. Click, click, click... oooohh, that's purdy! Seriously though, just messing with some of the insane mod possibilities yields amazing results. Try the demo, you won't be disappointed!
