Re: Real people, real pictures.. show your face :)
My avatar is a before picture as are these:
If I'd known this was the last pic of me as a player, I would have played one of my fancy Vegas or my vintage Pete Seeger!
The event was a major stroke in 2009. Here are some after pics:
Playing a boudhran with my band
At first, I tried tapping a left handed bass with my right hand. I was ok but found it difficult to sing at the same time. Anybody interested in a barely used left handed bass?
Nowdays, an iPad lets me play bass again. I can do this right handed only:
I can stand and sing for a while. Stage work and opera are things of the past. There would be safety issues with me on a stage or conductor's podium.

Me on the left. Picture taken a few years back during a Christmas jam session. Etymotic 4s sounds good, but looks daft.
Owns a 828MKIII, 8M AVB and DP7.24 + loads of non-significant stuff.

Whoa, that's a tough one to come back from. Sorry to hear that. You're doing great, though. Finding ways of doing the things you love to do, even though there are major challenges you must take on in order to do them. I can only imagine the frustration and grief. I admire your efforts and tenacity. Don't ever give up.mikehalloran wrote:

+1!
That is so painful to think about. Strokes run in my family, so it's pretty easy to imagine myself in your shoes -- or worse. But you are an inspiration; maybe it doesn't all have to end when you have a stroke. Thanks for showing us the way.

Re: Real people, real pictures.. show your face :)
In 2001 I had a mild heart attack in the middle of the day, and can only imagine what a severe stroke might be like.
I used to chain smoke, 2 pots of coffee a day..I was immediately convinced to give up
almost all my bad habits, and start exercising..
I'm sure everyone here is very glad you're around..
Be well..
