MachFive 3.1 update available

Post by Kurt Cowling »

True to its name, MachFive's new SparkVerb™ reverb module will inspire your production sensibilities with a fresh approach to synthetic reverb. From stratospheric choruses, to resonant unisons, and to lush ambiances, SparkVerb gives you a huge palette and direct control. Also new in Version 3.1, straight from the 1970's, is a meticulously engineered model of the analog ensemble effect in the Roland Paraphonic RS-505 string synth. Highly coveted, nearly impossible to obtain, now it's yours. You'll also have a blast exploring MachFive 3.1's six new script processors, like Shepard™, which produces the classic endless rising (or dropping) pitch effect. Best of all, Version 3.1 is now available as a free download for all MachFive 3 users.

64 bit Machfive 3.1 Plug-in won't launch on Windows7 64. Had the exact same bug with the last Electric Keys and UVI Workstation. I contacted UVI about it and they fixed it in a new UVI 2.05 release. Said it had to do with the pace protection in the update and permissions. Still no fix for Electric Keys and they release Machfive 3.1 over a month later with the same bug. edit: :(

Erm, may someone explain me the Ensemble505?
It's suited in "FX" tab, but I can't get *any* sound out of it (when set to "Mix 100%"). I don't get the point there...

ATTENTION WINDOWS MACHFIVE 3 CUSTOMERS: an issue was discovered with the MachFive 3.1.0 update installer, so it has been temporarily removed. Please check back soon for a fixed download.
Saw this on the MOTU site. At least they are on it.

Must be another Windows issue then. Would be nice if they actually tested on Windows including full installer. Pretty lame.

I wonder how this might translate if we were to find it on the DP 8 page in the next few months.

Be afraid. Be very afraid!

Machfive is awesome and the update is too. Thanks, MOTU.

Here's a sample of granular synthesis combined with the Shepard Tone algorithm with a dash of Sparkverb. Dig it. Source material: tuned bells and drums.

3.1.1 solves both issues. :)

Finally got to try the now working Ensemble effect and it's fantastic. Always thought the chorus was one of the weaker effects and this really makes up for it.

Some other nice additions in there too. Seems solid so far.
