SMPTE/LTC without soundcard

Post by dewdman42 »

Anyone know if a way to generate SMPTE/LTC on an audio track in DP without using one of the MOTU hardware interfaces? I want to send sync audio over jack to another app, if its possible somehow.

DP itself cannot generate sync. If you have some audible SMPTE you can record as a track that might work but the re-recording process tends to' round the edges' of the code making it unreliable.

If it is an important project you should use a device meant to read, write, and generate code.

round the edges? We used to stripe SMPTE to tape in the old days and it always worked fine.

For anyone that is interested, I think I found a solution. Reaper appears to have a built in LTC generator, you can add LTC to any track. So I stripped a track with 15 minutes LTC and then imported that WAV into DP. Seems to be working so far...

Oh goody...

I was talking about COPYING SMPTE from a previously recorded tape.
