Convert from AUP?
Hi Folks,
I'm getting some AUP (Audacity Project format) files in next week. I need to edit them and output as an mp3. I'd like to use DP.
I figure I can download Audacity and just use that to edit, or save from Audacity in a format that DP can read.
My question is -- can DP simply read an AUP file? (I'd rather just use DP and not download Audacity.)
Now...I can NOT look this up in my manual because we're moving next week and it's packed. (I'm sure that excuse has been used here before, but it's TRUE! )
Thanks!
Fred

Re: Convert from AUP?
Nope. Neither DP nor any other DAW but Audacity can read AUP files. You need to merge/export all audio files and import them into DP.
I believe Audacity has no OMF EXPORT. Otherwise you can export the AUP to OMF and import the OMF into DP.

Thanks RG -- that works. I'll probably just end up doing the work in Audacity then.

Re: Convert from AUP?
That sucks! Try to merge/export as separate tracks. Really. That's how we all do it. No problems.

Re: Convert from AUP?
The only reason I have Audacity installed is so that I can open the occasional AUP files I get sent and export them as .aiff for use in DP.williemyers wrote:Fred,

I sometimes needed it to open a few other file types but Toast and QuickTime 7 Pro do a better job of doing that.
