convolution reberb & cpu

Post by joelmusic »

hello -

i have a 2gh dual g5 with 4 gig of ram, and when i use the convolution reverbs (majestic hall or longer) it eats up almost half my cpu usage...

is this your experience, or is there something i can do to optimize, other than choose shorter duration reverbs?

thanks -

joel

Increase your latency.

hugy, I believe you mean't, increase your buffer size in DP's hardware setup. An undesirable side-effect of doing so is that latency is increased.

Then again, maybe SI has a latency control (though I'd be surprised if they called it that) for its convolution 'verb? I don't own it so don't know...

I meant of course increase your buffer size.
