Assign Sample (chromatic) to 16 pads (duh

Post by sincro777 »

Sorry for the "re-post". No one can help?????????!!!!!!!!

Maybe im not being clear. What i want to do is send a sample to all 16 pads to vary the pitch. CHROMATIC PADS.
I KNOW IVE DONE IT BEFORE.Just Cant Seem to find it anymore.gggrrr.
.Samplers have done this for 20 years.
I cANT BELIEVE MoTU BPM would neglect this basic chromatic feature.

please help me..
thankyou

Well I ordered BPM today and it will be here tomorrow. My sales tech said he had it and but wasn't sure if it could do it. Great. But he told me to email sales@motu. Here's the email and the official answer:
My email to them:
I would like to know if BPM has an auto-chromatic feature like the Akai MPC 2000xl? This feature (on the MPC) allows the user to take the sound(s) from one pad and "chromatically" pitch (tune) the sound across all sixteen pads. Will I be able to do this with BPM, or will I have to manually do this for each individual pad? If it can be done automatically, how is it done?

Their reply:
BPM does not have an auto-chromatic feature for its pad banks. You can drop the same sample to multiple pads and retune those pads manually. I look forward to answering all your technical questions. If I can be of further service, please let me know.

Dave Roberts - MOTU

So there it is, $280 and it doesn't freakin' auto-chromatic. What the heck?!? This 19G library better be dope.
PS. If anybody knows of a quick, work-around-way of doing the auto-chromatic, please share the knowledge. Without this feature, how am I supose to do my dirty south drum rolls? LOL!

If it's about pitch ramp, you can just automate the pitch knob using a MIDI CC n your sequencer. right click on the pitch knob.

thx brotha that is a good suggestion/workaround.

i guess i have to:

drag the same sample 16 times (to every pad)
and then adjust its semitone.

takes a few minutes and uses the whole bank though.

when i use "rack"
the MIDI channels get screwy - i lose my MIDI channel 1 bank A" pads when i switch to rack it uses the same channel i guess.?

thx though...

Check if you don't have the checkbox "Route To MIDI Input to " on the top of BPM checked.
And first rack use channel 5 by default

Hope this helps.
