I partitioned my drive and have a partition just for audio now. A minimal 10.4.2 install with DP 4.6 and MIS only, at this point. It works great with DP's default buffer settings! MSI sounds great and the FX work too. With some reverbs there is no way on God's green earth that they'll work with my setup. I load the effect and the audio performance meter pegs HARD. Oh well, I'll try increasing buffers when bouncing to enable bigger reverbs if needed.
