Hey all,
Can someone point me to any reference regarding custom music rates for the L.A. area, specifically for broadcast use? An opportunity has dropped in my lap and I want to be able to price myself accordingly.
Thanks in advance.

there is the old 5% of the total production budget rule of thumb... but there is little or no info on real figures. you could contact an agent/ management/ publishing company...

Hey Chris.
Film Music Network does a cyclical (not sure how often) survey of rates charged by composers for certain projects. I've thought of getting it myself, but haven't splurged the $19.95. Anyway...thought it might help.

If you get it, let me know whether or not you would recommend it...
Thanks,

I write music for TV documentaries. I get about $150 per minute of music. This is for stuff I record and master, then give to the client. I also get a bit from BMI for airplay.
