Ok I read the book - but I tired getting a new bank and saving a nice patch - my first - just receieved mx4 about 4 hrs ago...I lost the patch and the new bank was grayed out....what the heck happened and how do I do this? also how can I save all my new banks in a new folder in my home area so I can backup all of my patches and banks?????to an external HD and CD??? thank you -

Great question.

The MX4's factory patches are "built in." If you ever reinstall the program, etc, the program will create a new preference file.

This is in your user library -- you/Library/Preferences/MX4.patches

Understanding this makes everything else more understandable. Basically, you are ALWAYS saving a unique "preference" file. But, you can keep it anywhere (another hard drive, etc) and just use the file management on the back of the MX4 to import new banks, etc.

So, I've started creating new patches and stored them on my desktop.

Soon, the MX4.patches files (renamed, of course) will be flying around the internet !:-)
