Post by supersonic »

Hi,
Has anyone used the program http://homepage.mac.com/vcirilli/CueChronicle/?
It seems to be doing what I'm looking for but I would like to know if anyone of you has used it before and if there is another solution available. Hard as I've tried I
have not been able to find one for mac os x.

Thanks for any advice you might be able to give on the topic.

I should be that organized! Never happen...

Anyway, it seems like designing your own in FileMaker would be pretty simple to do and more customized to your own needs. Clearly, their templates look quite extensive and useful. If I ever were to get that organized, I'd probably just do the set myself in Filemaker.

Hello Vincent,

I'm still getting my head around this :-). CueTrack is easier than Cue Chronicle but will not do what I need in the end. What I'm looking for is ways of keeping track of all the cues in a film that's not locked. I've had a couple of experiences of the sort, with feature documentaries. I usually do the cue lists using neooffice spread sheet. The problem arises when the film undergoes changes while I'm writing. Cues change position and need to be re-spotted. Not very productive. The question I was asking myself was - is there a way to update Cue Chronicle with some form of edit list from Avid or Final Cut pro so that it takes into account those changes in the TC of the existing CUE and updates them?

Hi supersonic,

>>The problem arises when the film undergoes changes while I'm writing. Cues change position and need to be re-spotted

The Cues>Versions layout is specifically designed to keep track of a cue's version history from initial spotting to final dub.
A cue's related version record maintains time codes, picture version, version notes & revision notes for the cue as it constantly changes due to 1. Picture changes 2. Filmmaker revision notes 3. the composers revisions.

>>is there a way to update Cue Chronicle with some form of edit list from Avid or Final Cut pro
As of v3 you can not but I have had requests for this type of functionality, I'm currently investigating the different types of change list documents that are distributed from picture departments so that I can program an import EDL changes function.

There is some functionality currently in CC that helps with conforming cues to picture changes - you can shift a group of cues
by a time code amount also when a new cue version is created and it is marked as a conform change the start offset and duration difference is calculated to help with re setting your start times in your composing DAW.

If you have time to try out the demo it pretty much fully functional except - printouts are watermarked, some user prefs are locked out and you get the occasional Demo delay nag.

>> CueTrack is easier than Cue Chronicle
Most CC users jump into the program without reading any documentation and and get up a running pretty easily. Also I'm pretty good at returning my users email questions also.

Lastly FYI

The three Film & TV scoring management programs I know of are.

CueChronicle. http://www.cuechronicle.com/
CueTracker http://www.cuetracker.com/
CueLog Manager http://www.powerkeys.com/cuelogmanager.html

That's what I call a fair comparison :-). CueLog Manager seems to need FileMaker. Cue Chronicle seems to be the way to go.
If the edit list from version A to version B of a cut can be imported it would be a great improvement. I shall give Cue Chronicle a try. Thank you for very concise answers.
