iLok / Waves issue in DP4.61 Need Help!
I just bought a new drive and cloned my OS (10.4.11). Launched DP, entered my name and key-code, and now DP hangs with an error code (-5000 unknown) when my iLok protected Waves plugins are trying to authorize. I have never had an issue and I am worried that my iLok is dead. I have a ton of projects going on right now that have these plug-ins all over them.
Any help is appreciated. I am going to attempt to return to the old drive and see if things will work for now, however I need to move to the new system drive asap.

Re: iLok / Waves issue in DP4.61 Need Help!
I just placed the original Operating system hard disc back in my G5 and I still cannot get DP to launch. Nothing has changed with this System disk for Tiger. Simply cloned it last night using Carbon Copy Cloner. Synced my iLok on ilok.com, etc. Never had this issue before.
I am now officially locked out of a DP system that has been running flawlessly for four years and I have no idea why. Checked my USB bus, working perfectly. iLok showing up. Installed the latest iLok stuff on the other new clone of my system drive and it still wouldn't open. I was working on a mastering project yesterday with zero issues before using CCC on my hard disk. Ran CCC and now can't get DP to work.
Not getting any work done today, officially behind schedule and losing money.

Have you tried starting DP with the option key down and disabling your plugins? Just to see if you can get it to launch and load a project?
Also go to ilok.com and download and reinstall the driver:

Re: iLok / Waves issue in DP4.61 Need Help!
Ok, have you confirmed that the iLok is ok? Can you open another app like Logic, Final Cut Pro (or Final Cut Express), or any other app that uses the iLok? Or, you could go to another computer with DP on it, and attempt to run it there.
I would think that logging into iLok's site, and attempting some managing of your iLok data would prove that it's working.
So, if it's working, then there is some disconnect between DP and the iLok. What can you do to fix that? Try the one at a time, so that you can find what works.
• You might try upgrading the iLok manager software. That would be my first step. (InterLok Extensions Install.app)
• Tossing the DP AU database. ( Audio Plug-In Prefs, and Audio Unit Info Cache)
• Toss MOTU Audio System Prefs
• If you're using DP 7.1, try moving Default Effect Settings out of the system folder (if you've got saved effects settings, don't toss it unless you can prove it's causing the problem.)
• Possibly even toss the Preferences if none of the above works.
There are two Pace preferences that I know of:
• com.paceap.ilokclienthelper.plist
• PACE Common
Search your Preferences folder to find them. Again, I'd move them out of the folder. Don't trash them completely without KNOWING they are causing the problem. If you trash these irreversibly, you may have some difficulty getting them reset, but I think it's probably doable. (after all, something put them there in the first place)
You might also try a SAFE BOOT -- Restart with shift key depressed. This clears out caches and repairs some problems. Then reboot normally and try DP again.
Let us know when you figure out what the problem was.

Re: iLok / Waves issue in DP4.61 Need Help!
For whatever reason, post clone the Waves plug-ins on both the source drive (my OSX 10.4.11 drive for the past 2-3 years) and the new drive (which is taking over duties from this point forward) would not allow DP to open. iLok.com had me update the iLok stuff, and both before and after doing this I had the same problem with DP/Waves. After upgrading the iLok stuff, the iLok checked out totally fine.
After being locked out for almost 24 hours, I simply re-installed all of the Waves stuff as a last ditch effort. Bingo, everything works!
No idea what happened. I re-cloned the drive and all is well. Both System drives (old and new) are working fine after re-installing Waves 5.2 plug-ins. I opened up older sessions and all is fine.
I still have no idea why this happened, but I a relieved that everything is working again.
Thanks for the attempts at helping me!

It's always good to re-install everything when you get these types of hangs. I NEVER have a problem restoring a drive but I'm not using any dongles other than my cards and they don't have to call home. The only thing that calls home on my system is Altiverb.

Which, you have to admit, is a pretty cool home to call. (Audio Ease)newrigel wrote:The only thing that calls home on my system is Altiverb.
