I have the exact same machine and run the latest version of Leopard beautifully with DP 7.1.
I don't use Waves or NI, but I believe the latest versions of those programs play nice with Power PC and Leopard. I know there were some issues with some NI stuff in the past but a search here should clear any of that up.

same setup different opinion,I have decided to stay happily in Tiger, many users with G5's have tried Leopard and gone back, for some it has been OK for some it has been horrible.
if you are in Tiger I strongly suggest you upgrade to 10.4.11
I will upgrade to SL when I go to an Intel based machine but I feel Tiger is a great OS for PPC.

Because I need to use Apogee's SBUS I need to upgrade from Tiger to Leopard...actually I did it already with a fresh install, but I'm thinking of trying to just do a simple upgrade of my old drive just because it has so many plug-ins that I don't feel like reinstalling everything, which I had to do on my MacPro. Man, what a pain. Did anyone here had a successful upgrade by just upgrading Tiger direct and not do a clean install?

I was writing this same question when DP7 was released. after hear a lot of cons on leopard I decided to stick with 10.4.11

Been working great so far. Other than the typical bugs in 7.1 that everyone else is experiencing.

We installed OSX 10.5.8 and DP 7.1 on a separate internal HD of our Dual 2.5GHz G5 today; all is running smoothly and we're delighted (see sig.).

However, we experienced severe problems after installing the latest MOTU Audio driver (v1.5.37320 which was released January 4, 2010). After running the installer, we got the 4-language screen-of-death-you-must-restart-now every time we restarted until we safe booted (hold down Shift while booting). I then ran the v1.5.37320 Uninstaller, installed the previous MOTU Audio Driver that was released last September, and all runs perfectly now.

We also continue to run DP 5.13 on Tiger on the other internal HD as our failsafe system.

Hi,

I am in the same position I want to migrate to X.5.8 on my G5 Dual 2 (PCIx).
Because I want to use VEpro.
And the G5 will be the master.

When all the application are in 64Bits.
Still compatible with the G5???
With X.5.8 The G5 still benefice from the 64Bits???

Thanks

Logic 9.1 64-bit requires Snow Leopard and an Intel mac. When DP is ready to go 64-bits, it will also require an Intel mac with 10.6.x...

The G5 is a 64-bit native architecture and of course, Apple could have chosen to support it with Snow Leopard, but instead they decided to stop development - for a couple of reasons.
